Privacy Policy
Pipey (com.schemetech.pipey) · Effective 16 August 2026
The short version: Pipey collects no personal data. Nothing you do in the app
leaves your device unless you explicitly share it yourself.
Who we are
Pipey is developed by SchemeTech ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the Pipey
Android app handles information.
Camera
Pipey requests the camera permission for one purpose: the rear camera acts as the
bagpipe chanter's thumb hole. The app measures the overall brightness of the camera
feed in real time to detect whether your thumb is covering the lens.
- Camera frames are processed on your device, in memory, and immediately discarded.
- No photos or videos are captured, stored, or transmitted — ever.
- The small camera preview shown in settings exists only to help you aim your thumb;
it is rendered live and never recorded.
Data we collect
None. Pipey has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any
kind. The app makes no network connections and transmits no data to us or to anyone else.
Data stored on your device
- Settings (volume levels, chosen camera lens, detection sensitivity,
and similar preferences) are stored locally on your device and never leave it.
Uninstalling the app deletes them.
- Debug logs: if — and only if — you tap "Export debug logs" in the
Help screen, the app saves a diagnostic text file to your device's Downloads folder
and opens the Android share sheet so you can choose whether and where to
send it. The log contains technical events (touch, camera-detection and audio-engine
diagnostics) and basic device model information. It is never sent automatically.
Children
Pipey collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Pipey handles data, we will update this page and the effective
date above before the change ships.
